Manager, Finance & Accounting

About the Position:

Livingly Media is seeking a Manager, Finance & Accounting to join our growing business team.  This is a wide-ranging role, perfect for someone looking to transition a background in accounting into a broader finance or business operations career.  Responsibilities will include budgeting/forecasting, accounting and reporting, cash planning and HR.

Our ideal candidate is curious, motivated and adaptable; will be equally comfortable working collaboratively in teams and independently, can handle multiple projects at once, and excels when faced with new challenges and problems to solve. The Manager, Finance & Accounting will report to the Senior Vice President/General Manager.

  • Assist with short-term and long-term P&L forecasting, ultimately owning the full budget process
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis, investigating and understanding revenue and expense trends
  • Execute the month-end close process, including recording journal entries, assisting with budget-to-actual variance analysis and compiling monthly management reporting packages
  • Operate daily/weekly accounting procedures
  • Serve as a point person for many external relationships, including banks, vendors and service providers
  • Support the year-end audit, preparation of tax returns and other external reporting requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar
  • CPA and Public Accounting experience preferred
  • 5+ years accounting, reporting and/or FP&A experience, ideally in an online or media environment
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, charts and graphs, financial models)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with a variety of functional areas in the U.S. and internationally

Photo Editor, Lonny

Position Summary

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, design-obsessed Photo Editor to join the Lonny team. The ideal candidate should possess a love for all things lifestyle related — from interiors to entertaining to tech — and have a natural eye and understanding for strong editorial visuals.

In this hybrid position, the Photo Editor will assist with creating and designing layouts, graphics, resizing, and light photo retouching. He/she will have a knack for knowing what makes an image stand out, will make photo selects, and help maintain Lonny’s overall creative vision. He/she will also manage Lonny’s digital photo archive — as well as work with photographers and source new talent as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge and interest in lifestyle-related content
  • A background in photography and thorough understanding of Photoshop are a must
  • Ability to pivot and balance multiple tasks at once while still maintaining quality work
  • Must be able to work on tight deadlines and thrive in a start-up environment
  • 1-3 years experience at a leading online publication, preferably in the lifestyle space, is a plus

He/she will also possess strong writing and ideation skills and understand the importance of packaging and creating content for social. The candidate must be savvy across all social-media platforms. Managing Editor, Zimbio

Who You Are

You’re an editor, content manager, entertainment media expert, and social media maven who lives for pop culture. You’ve worked in the online media/entertainment news space in an editorial capacity for at least 5 years, and a portion of those years were spent managing editors. You know your Mad Max from your Mad Men and you always have your finger on the pulse of industry trends, but you also know how to create accessible pop culture content for a mass market audience.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Editor in Chief. Strong writing/editing/management skills and genuine passion for pop culture are required. Internet fluency—social media skills, GIF-making ability, knowledge of memes, etc.—is a plus as well.

Responsibilities:
The Zimbio Managing Editor will be responsible for all editorial aspects of the site, including:
• Hiring and managing editors, freelancers, and interns
• Defining and maintaining the tone and voice of the site
• Collaborating on and deploying Zimbio’s ongoing editorial strategy
• Creating and maintaining an editorial calendar
• Analyzing market trends and translating them in creative, easily consumable ways for a mass audience
• Representing the site at events, speaking on panels, and making any on-air television/radio appearances
• Communicating across teams, including engineering and design, to create highly-engaging, cutting-edge features for readers to enjoy

Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in entertainment news, online publishing, or related field
• Strong knowledge of pop culture. Good industry contacts a plus.
• Strong organizational skills, a great attitude, and a wealth of innovative ideas
• Ability to manage the daily/weekly/monthly content flow of a website. Proactive thinking about ways to increase traffic, build brand, and give readers top-notch content they love.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment and to motivate a team of writers to create deeply engaging content for readers.
