Managing Editor, Zimbio

Who You Are

You’re an editor, content manager, entertainment media expert, and social media maven who lives for pop culture. You’ve worked in the online media/entertainment news space in an editorial capacity for at least 5 years, and a portion of those years were spent managing editors. You know your Mad Max from your Mad Men and you always have your finger on the pulse of industry trends, but you also know how to create accessible pop culture content for a mass market audience.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Editor in Chief. Strong writing/editing/management skills and genuine passion for pop culture are required. Internet fluency—social media skills, GIF-making ability, knowledge of memes, etc.—is a plus as well.

Responsibilities:
The Zimbio Managing Editor will be responsible for all editorial aspects of the site, including:
• Hiring and managing editors, freelancers, and interns
• Defining and maintaining the tone and voice of the site
• Collaborating on and deploying Zimbio’s ongoing editorial strategy
• Creating and maintaining an editorial calendar
• Analyzing market trends and translating them in creative, easily consumable ways for a mass audience
• Representing the site at events, speaking on panels, and making any on-air television/radio appearances
• Communicating across teams, including engineering and design, to create highly-engaging, cutting-edge features for readers to enjoy

Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in entertainment news, online publishing, or related field
• Strong knowledge of pop culture. Good industry contacts a plus.
• Strong organizational skills, a great attitude, and a wealth of innovative ideas
• Ability to manage the daily/weekly/monthly content flow of a website. Proactive thinking about ways to increase traffic, build brand, and give readers top-notch content they love.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment and to motivate a team of writers to create deeply engaging content for readers.

Software Engineer (Python, Django, Javascript) – San Francisco Bay Area or remote (USA-only)

Details:

  • Build and maintain core features for our network of websites.
  • Ship your code quickly and get it in front of tens of millions of people.

Requirements:

  • 2-5+ years web development experience.

Senior UX Designer – San Francisco Bay Area

Details:

  • Define, direct, and execute all aspects of design.
  • Produce wireframes, mockups, and visual elements for new products and experiences.

We are looking to further build out our performance marketing team with a paid social marketer. The ideal person for this role will be self directed, act as a data master, and recognize high level trends. This is a direct-response role focused on profitably scaling Livingly Media traffic via content and distribution channels.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage daily execution of campaigns including monitoring ongoing performance
  • Conceptualize and implement optimization strategies and tests
  • Keep up to date with best practices and present new ideas and strategies to the team
  • Hands-on bid optimization to meet and exceed volume and ROI targets
  • Build and execute audience targeting and expansion plans
  • A/B test ad strategies and audience segmentation
  • Aggregate reporting, provide performance analysis and hands on strategic development
  • Contribute to other team projects and initiatives, remaining flexible and willing to contribute

What We’re Looking For In You:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in digital and/or mobile marketing
  • Experience using Facebook Ads Manager a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills with profit orientation
  • Thrive in an environment of fast testing, measuring and iterating in pursuit of goals and objectives
  • Familiar with our main KPIs such as views, engagements and conversions
  • Ability to set goals and execute under tight deadlines
